The Department of Public Works maintains Martin Sutton Park, Railroad Park (soon to be Rails to Trails), streets, sidewalks, signage, flower beds, trees, snow removal, alley repairs, public trash removal (through a contactor), equipment maintenance, and other citizen’s concerns.
The Water Department maintains the wells, underground piping for distribution, the water tower, valves and hydrant, and maintain the chlorine residual throughout town. The Waste Water Department checks all its facilities daily for correct operation. The town currently has four pump stations we maintain, and operate a lagoon spray irrigation system on the town farm just at the west side of town.
All this work is done with a staff of five people; Robin Eaton, Director of Public Works, David Crist, Water/Wastewater Superintendant, Wilson Manship, Equipment Operator, Ben Reichart, Maintenance Assistant, and James Moore, Maintenance Assistant.
Ridgely Bulk Trash Pick-Up Schedule
1st Tues: Rubble (wood items, household items)
2nd Tues: Brush, Yard Waste (less than 4' x 4')
3dr Tues: Metal (Register at office $2-$4/item)
4th Tues: Make-up day
Definitions and Policy regarding Bulk Trash
Bulk trash can be set out 48 hours prior to scheduled pick-up.
To report a street light is out: Get the 10 digit number from the pole and call the Town Office. They will report it to Delmarva Power.
Street Plowing Requirements: Park off the streets if possible. Also, do not shovel snow into the street after it has been plowed. If possible, dont' drive around while streets are being plowed.
